Pacific Rim Uprising
Shakespeare it it not. But, it’s not trying to be. So, I don’t understand why everyone is so critical of a movie that is really only trying to be true to the genre.
It’s Michael Bay’s Transformers…with better fight scenes and bigger and uglier monsters.
It’s rated PG-13 for the sci-fi violence and some language.
It was funny at times and entertaining. The action sequences were fun.
The cast? Well John Beyega held his own as the rebellious Jake Pentecost — who’s father was the hero who sacrificed his life to save the world in the original. When the Kaiju attack again, well, he gets his chance. Most of the teen would-be-hero’s are pretty forgettable. And good grief, Scott Eastwood has all the good looks of his dad, but none of the acting chops. Put a little emotion into your character, Scott.
So…no one will win any Academy Awards here. But when I saw the movie, a good portion of the audience cheered at the end.
That validated my feelings. and I’m sure I’ll go see the next one.
i give it a 3.5 out of 5 Stars.
I’m Gary Rivers and that’s what’s happening at the movies. Tune in again next Monday morning for another Movie Review and a chance for you to win a pair of tickets to the Cinemark Theaters.
