Gary toured the Mercy Robotic Surgery Center at Mercy Medical on Friday, October 8, 2010. He was there to learn more about the facility and how robotic-assisted surgery may be the best treatment option for many circumstances.
During the visit, Gary got a lesson on operating the robotic arm in their training facility. It was a hands-on learning lesson where Gary could see exactly what a doctor would see when treating a patient. Of course, Gary’s only mission was to remove three rubber bands from a table and place them in a cup. While his “surgery” was succesful, no one in the room opted to have him remove their appendix. Go figure.
